Spin or not. This isn't on Bowman or Q. The players lost the series with the effort they put forth. End of story.

Sure didn't seem like the team was ready in game 1 and that's on the coach to some extent.

Hey, all opinions are welcome.

To my eye, there are some players who need to be accountable. The head coach and staff. And the GM. All for different specific reasons.

I now DEEPLY REGRET buying in to this team after the TDL after questioning it all season to that point. Should have trusted my initial instincts. This was a team built for regular season/finesse hockey. Too many "learners" on the roster.

And three things I would be looking hard at this morning:

Injury or no, the contract given to Anisimov in 2015 was a big mistake. THEY DID NOT HAVE TO extend him one week after trading for him, when he had a year left on his current deal, for big money with an NMC. He does some things well but he's also slow, terrible on faceoffs and probably untradeable.

The entire Trevor Daley fiasco, from dealing Sharp and Johns to acquiring Scuderi, who the Hawks were STILL paying this year. Was that on Bowman, on Q, on both?

Schmaltz has talent but was not ready this year. Motte was not ready. And you can bet Bowman will be pumping the tires this summer of more kids who are probably better off in Rockford.

Don't disagree with anything you've written here (ex. - I'd trade Crawford in a heartbeat. Not because I don't like him, but because the salary cap saved equals another potentially good and contributing player in exchange for maybe not that much difference in goal).

That said, the blog short-changes Nashville. They were flawless -- consistent, determined, structured, patient.

I think the Hawks and Q should be headed for a breakup. Q is a HOF coach, nobody denies this. I just didn't see the engagement we're so used to seeing from the players. Even when they have lost a series in the past, nobody could question the heart and the resolve, but I sure didn't feel that way this time.

As for the youth, I'm no scout, so I don't know how that's going to work out. If it doesn't happen, the decline begins in earnest. If it does happen, then it will add a few more years to the window.

Thoughts about a Panarin for Saad swap?

I like Panarin a lot, but he disappears in the playoffs and Kane has shown that he can carry his line without a competent left wing. Maybe this swap would mix things up for both teams, providing them with new energy? Similar to what the Preds and the Canadiens did.

Does Debrincat play left wing? Insert him next to Kane?

Saad is gone. We have an infatuation with our past players. Usually emotional ties due to past success. He may not have same chemistry now as in the past, and his price tag is high. Loved the guy when he was here, but it's probably not the answer.

Totally what I was thinking about the Bread Man. Should've built those bonuses into the playoff performance!

If they wait to extend him, what happens to his value in season as he was centering two guys who won hardware that season? How should they have handled extending him? And if they don't have him locked up, how does that affect negotiations with Panarin? I don't see an easy answer here.

This hawk team can still win cups Kane and Toews are still young and this is whats needed to happen next
Trade crow
Trade Kruger
Trade Panarin?
this is what is lacking on this team.
too many smurfs stop picking them please we need more Bickels brouwers ladds ect people who will get there nose dirty hit hard sit in the crease and screen the goalie we missed this dearly against the preds
Help for Toews and a legit second center man who can win faceoffs'
last but not least a fast defenceman who can Qb a power play with a cannon of a shot that can get through to the net.

The overall level of disrespect to the Preds by the majority of the posters was and is incredible. An intelligent post is as rare as a Chicago sweater at Bridgestone in 2009

What a beat down, total domination. Revenge in part for 2010, 2015, series that you got all the breaks, you got the goals in double and triple OT that easily could have swung the series the other way.

Really going to enjoy this. When does a team ever lose as bad as you did. Historical. Not even a goal on your home ice.

Time to realize the only way the "Hocks" get good again is to get as bad as you were throughout the 2000s to get the #1 picks

Enjoy your ride to the basement and have a Great summer!

the most any goalie has been traded for in recent year is a first rounder, would you guys take that for Crow?

Enjoy taking it up the arse by whichever team you face next. You need legitimate superstars leading the way to win in this league. Whether it's Toews, Kane, Keith, Kopitar, Doughty, Crosby, Malkin, Bergeron, Chara, etc.

Preds don't have a single one. Enjoy this victory because it'll be be the highlight of your season. Making it to the WCF is an accomplishment for the Preds in itself. Can the Preds win more than one series in the playoffs? Lol let's hope so.

Frank off and take your mustard colored sweater elsewhere. Your cousin is calling for you to come back to bed.

I'm going against the grain a bit here, what I think this team needs is some roster consistency. Year after year at least a couple solid contributors leave the team. You can blame that on Toews and Kane but the reality is that cap purges happened before there $10.5 million contracts kicked in.

We all knew there would be growing pains with so many rookies, I guess we didn't believe all the pain would be saved up for the playoffs.

It's unlikely the Hawks are going to be drafting in the top 5 for a while, so there needs to be another way to improve the supporting case of this team. Does that mean biting the bullet and letting the likes of Hartman and Schmaltz carry a heavier workload (for which they may not be ready) or is is there another solution?

For me it's pretty simple.

In 2009...they probably overachieved and ran into men in the WIngs in WCF.

In 2011 I didn't expect them to beat Vancouver. I expected a decent showing and the core pushed hard and the Hawks were ultimately the 800 lb elephant that Canucks had a huge MENTAL block in beating because on paper that series shouldn't have gone 7 games.

In 2012 Hossa gets KO'd and unlike this series, Mike SMith was unreal and CC was letting in horrendous OT goal after OT goal.

In 2014, you lost to a better team in the WCF game 7...

This year, while on paper they might have been better, they were dominated and exposed and that should be alarming to everyone. You lose that series in 6 or 7, OK....a break here or there......not true about being swept.

Furthermore, you had ZERO effort from 95% of your roster, including coaches, who couldn't figure out how to adapt to Nashville after period 1 of game 1....numerous guys refused to engaged all series long, and you looked slow and old.........

In 2016 you lost in a toss up series vs STL in game 7....

i didn't realize the preds won the cup last night. congrats on the series win. thanks for the beat down...it now forces change in Chicago. remember this series as a turning point for the Hawks and their future down the road. if you think the Hawks are headed to the basement, you're foolish.
